South Florida senior cornerback Josh Brown will miss the 2013 season after injurying his Achilles during a recent workout, the Tampa Bay Times reported on Thursday.
Brown, who was slated to be the Bulls' starting nickelback this fall, had surgery on Tuesday and faces a recovery time of six-to-eight months.
The former junior-college transfer appeared in eight games for USF last year, collecting 11 tackles, including one tackle for loss.
The Bulls secondary loses both its starting corners from last season, which may not be a bad thing considering the unit had an NCAA-low two interceptions. But without Brown, USF will likely have to rely on incoming recruits for depth.
