Rice vs. East Carolina updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Rice vs. East Carolina football game
The East Carolina Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Rice Owls at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Rice Stadium. East Carolina will be hoping to continue their 3-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for East Carolina on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Gardner-Webb out of the water with a 44-0 final score.
East Carolina's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rahjai Harris led the charge by rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 11 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamarro Edmonds, who rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the point spread favored Rice on Saturday, but luck did not. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Florida.
Rice's defeat came about despite a quality game from JT Daniels, who threw for 432 yards and three touchdowns. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke McCaffrey, who picked up 199 receiving yards.
East Carolina's victory bumped their season record to 1-3 while Rice's defeat dropped theirs to 2-2.
East Carolina is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.
