San Jose State vs. UNLV updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the San Jose State vs. UNLV football game
The UNLV Rebels and the San Jose State Spartans are set to square off in a Mountain West matchup at 10:30 p.m. ET Oct. 7 at CEFCU Stadium. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
UNLV decided to play defense against itself last week, but the squad still came out ahead despite their 90 penalty yards. They walked away with a 31-20 win over the New Mexico Lobos. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 14 to nothing deficit. No one had a standout game offensively for the Rebels, but they got scores from DB Cameron Oliver and RB Aidan Robbins.
Special teams collected 11 points for UNLV. P Daniel Gutierrez delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowboys typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday SJSU proved too difficult a challenge. SJSU captured a comfortable 33-16 win. SJSU QB Chevan Cordeiro was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 314 yards on 37 attempts in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns.
UNLV is expected to lose this next one by 7. Those burned by picking them against the spread last Friday might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
The Rebels are now 4-1 while the Spartans sit at 3-1. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: UNLV enters the game having picked the ball off 11 times, good for second in the nation. But SJSU has yet to throw a single interception. We'll see which of these strengths -- offense or defense -- will win out.
