Who's Playing
Utah @ San Diego State
Current Records: Utah 1-1; San Diego State 2-0
What to Know
The Utah Utes will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Dignity Health Sports Park at 7 p.m. ET Saturday. They won't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an 8-point advantage in the spread.
Utah came up short against the BYU Cougars last week, falling 26-17. Despite the defeat, the Utes got a solid performance out of RB Micah Bernard, who rushed for one TD and 146 yards on 12 carries. Bernard's longest run was for 50 yards in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 233 more yards than your opponent like the San Diego State Aztecs did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They put the hurt on the Arizona Wildcats with a sharp 38-14 victory. The team ran away with 35 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. RB Greg Bell and QB Jordon Brookshire were among the main playmakers for the Aztecs as the former rushed for one TD and 125 yards on 17 carries and the latter passed for two TDs and 183 yards on 14 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Brookshire hadn't helped his team much against the New Mexico State Aggies two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
San Diego State's win lifted them to 2-0 while Utah's loss dropped them down to 1-1. We'll see if San Diego State can repeat their recent success or if the Utes bounce back and reverse their fortune.
