Talk about a 180. After starting the Seahawks' first two preseason games, QB Matt Flynn won't be suiting up for the third game Friday in Kansas City, according to Seattle's official Twitter page. Flynn will sit out the game to rest a sore elbow.
Flynn won't be the only unavailable Seahawk in Kansas City. Also not playing Friday are RB Marshawn Lynch, WR Doug Baldwin, TE Cameron Morrah, DB Roy Lewis, LB Allen Bradford, LB Matt McCoy, LB Malcolm Smith, DL Lazarius Levingston and DL Jason Jones.
Although Flynn won't be playing Friday, all eyes in Seattle will be on the QB situation with rookie Russell Wilson making his first career start. Wilson impressed almost everyone in the Seahawks' first two preseason games.
Wilson was 22 of 33 for 279 yards and three touchdowns and an interception. The only knock on Wilson is that his numbers came against second- and third-team defenses. That won't be the case Friday. The Chiefs are expected to treat the game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season, meaning their defensive starters could play into the third quarter.
