It's another busy weekend of SEC news. Here are the headlines:
- With Auburn dealing with another arrest and suspension, Birmingham News columnist Kevin Scarbinsky wonders, What kind of program is coach Gene Chizik running? The latest incident involves returning starting center Reese Dismukes, who was charged with public intoxication early Saturday. Scarbinsky wrote that "it's time to take a hard look at the accumulation of issues involving current, former and future Auburn players this calendar year alone."
- Isaiah Crowell, the SEC Freshman of the Year at Georgia in 2011, says he's happy at Alabama State. Crowell was dismissed from UGA after being arrested on weapons charges. Crowell's new coach said the former No. 1 running back recruit in the nation is relieved somebody is giving him a second chance.
- Tennessee coach Derek Dooley dismissed Vol for Life coordinator Andre Lott last month, and now the News Sentinel sheds light as to why. Dooley cited Lott's failure to manage at-risk players as one reason, according to documents obtained by the paper. But Lott claimed Dooley didn't give him clear direction and that it was hard to communicate with the coach.
- Arkansas running back Knile Davis, who missed last season with a fractured ankle, wasn't allowed to play in the Razorbacks' first two scrimmages. But he did participate in the most recent scrimmage, which was closed to the public. Afterward, Davis tweeted: "Hahaha still got it...good scrimmage today the team looked great #Blessed & highly favored !!!" And RBs coach Tim Horton tweeted a photo of Davis carrying the ball.
