Arizona back-up running back Orlando Bradford has been dismissed from the team following his arrest on seven felony charges.
"Earlier [Wednesday], we were made aware that Orlando Bradford had been arrested," said Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez in a statement. "As a result of his actions, he has been dismissed from the program."
Sergeant Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department told USA Today that Bradford is charged with seven counts of domestic violence: four counts of aggravated assault and three counts of kidnapping. The duplicate charges all stem from multiple crimes being committed over several days.
Dugan says the police received a 911 call at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday from the alleged victim. After arriving on the scene, police noted the alleged victim had obvious injuries, and she claimed that Bradford had assaulted her several times over the past few days. The police determined that the alleged victim and Bradford were in a relationship that fell under domestic violence statutes, and Bradford was taken into police custody on Wednesday afternoon.
Bradford had been listed as the backup to Nick Wilson at running back on Arizona's depth chart, but through the first two games of the season he carried the ball only five times for 16 yards.
