SMU vs. Stephen F. Austin updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the SMU vs. Stephen F. Austin football game
Game Recap
The SMU Mustangs won the last time they met up with the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. SMU was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Stephen F. Austin 50-7 at home. That 43-point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs on the season.
SMU RB Ulysses Bentley IV looked sharp as he rushed for two TDs and 104 yards on six carries. WR Danny Gray also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
SMU defense was a presence as well, as it got past Stephen F. Austin offensive line to sack the quarterback four times. It was a group effort with four picking up one sack apiece.
The Lumberjacks only touchdown came on a rush from QB Trae Self.
The victory for the Mustangs kept them a perfect 3-0. Stephen F. Austin still hasn't won a contest and fell to 0-3.
SMU has the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Memphis Tigers at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 3 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. If the game is anything like Memphis 54-48 win from their previous meeting November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy. Stephen F. Austin looks to take advantage of their home turf advantage next Saturday as they take on the West Texas A&M Buffaloes at Homer Bryce Stadium at 5 p.m. ET.
