The South Alabama Jaguars will kick their season off against they on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. ET at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Keep your eye on passing touchdowns in this one, as these two were some of the most dominant teams in that area last year. South Alabama were ranked 23rd in the nation last season, with 24 over the course of the season. North Texas did even better, as they were ranked 11th with 33 in total.
Looking back to last season, South Alabama wound up perfectly balanced, finishing 6-6. On the other hand, North Texas will seek to improve after finishing 5-7.
Going forward, South Alabama is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by five points. They finished last season with a mediocre 4-8 record against the spread, so bettors beware.
South Alabama ought to be happy about their advantage in the spread: the team was a solid 5-3 when favored last season. A bettor who placed a $100 dollar bet on them to lose every one of the 12 games they played last year would have netted $598.20. Sadly, North Texas will open their season as the underdog, and the team was 1-6 as such last year.
