South Carolina vs. Florida updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Carolina vs. Florida football game
Game Recap
The Florida Gators typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the South Carolina Gamecocks proved too difficult a challenge. USC made easy work of the Gators and carried off a 40-17 victory. For the Gamecocks, this is just revenge for the 38-24 loss they suffered against Florida the last time they faced one another on Oct. 3 of last year.
USC started the game off right with 30 first-half points. Florida wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 30-10 heading into the break. The South Carolina defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the contest.
USC got their win on the backs of several key players, and it was RB Kevin Harris out in front picking up 128 yards on the ground on 16 carries. This was the first time Harris has racked up 100+ rushing yards all year. QB Jason Brown didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
Special teams collected 16 points for the Gamecocks. K Parker White delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Gators, but they got scores from WR Rick Wells and WR Xzavier Henderson. The matchup brought USC to 5-4 and dropped Florida to a mirror-image 4-5.
USC will take on the Missouri Tigers at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field. USC will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a Mizzou defense that has allowed 37 points per game on average. Florida will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the Samford Bulldogs at noon ET. Samford is 0-3 after wins this season, and Florida is 2-2 after losses.
