South Carolina vs. Tennessee: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Carolina vs. Tennessee football game
Game Recap
The Tennessee Volunteers had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. On Saturday, they secured a 31-27 W over the South Carolina Gamecocks. Since the Volunteers won the last time these teams met, too, this is only more fuel for the fire driving USC future revenge.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 259 yards on 31 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Tennessee's LB Henry To'o To'o got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the second quarter into a touchdown.
Tennessee defense was a presence as well, as it got past USC offensive line to sack QB Collin Hill four times for a loss of 13 yards. Leading the way was LB DeAndre Johnson and his 2.5 sacks. Those were the first sacks for Johnson through Week 4.
WR Shi Smith put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught ten passes for one TD and 140 yards.
This was the first contest for both teams, starting off Tennessee at 1-0 and USC at a reverse 0-1.
The Volunteers will be playing at home against the Missouri Tigers at noon ET next Saturday. Mizzou took a loss in their last game and are no doubt out to reverse Tennessee's good fortune. As for the Gamecocks, they will face off against the Florida Gators at noon ET next Saturday at Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
