Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Florida vs. Cincinnati football game
Game Recap
The Cincinnati Bearcats were successful in their previous meeting against the South Florida Bulls, and they didn't afford South Florida any payback this time around. The Bearcats took down South Florida 45-28 on Friday.
Cincinnati's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 24 points in the first half. South Florida countered with 7 points. The offense for Cincinnati continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.
Cincinnati's QB Desmond Ridder did his thing and passed for two TDs and 304 yards on 39 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 65 yards. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Ridder this season. RB Ryan Montgomery was in the mix, too, providing the Bearcats with two touchdowns.
Cincinnati's defense was a presence as well, as it collected two interceptions and two fumbles. LB Deshawn Pace picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
WR Jimmy Horn Jr. hadn't helped South Florida's cause all that much against the Houston Cougars last week, but the same can't be said for this matchup. Despite the loss, South Florida had strong showings from Horn Jr., who caught five passes for one TD and 108 yards, and RB Jaren Mangham, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. One of the most thrilling moments was Horn Jr.'s 80-yard TD reception in the third quarter.
Cincinnati's victory brought them up to 10-0. The defeat dropped the Bulls' record to 2-8.
The Bearcats will take on the SMU Mustangs at noon ET next week at Nippert Stadium. As for South Florida, they will face off against the Tulane Green Wave at noon ET next week at Benson Field at Yulman Stadium.
