Southern Miss vs. Tulane updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Southern Miss vs. Tulane football game
Game Recap
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles had a rough go of it in January when they matched up with the Tulane Green Wave and had to endure more of the same on Saturday. The Golden Eagles were dealt a punishing 66-24 loss at the hands of Tulane. Southern Miss was down 52-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
RB Cameron Carroll went supernova for the Green Waves as he rushed for three TDs and 163 yards on 15 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Carroll's 52-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter. The Tulane defense stepped up as well to lay out QB Jack Abraham five times.
Tulane defense was a presence as well, as it collected one interception and three fumbles. That interception came courtesy of DB Kevaris Hall with 7:53 remaining in the first quarter.
Southern Miss' defeat came about despite a quality game from WR Jason Brownlee, who caught three passes for one TD and 110 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Brownlee's 88-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
Southern Miss still hasn't won a matchup and fell to 0-3. Tulane win brought them up to 2-1.
The Golden Eagles are packing up and heading on the road for their first away contest this season. They face off against the North Texas Mean Green next Saturday at Apogee Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. North Texas is looking for a pick-me-up after a 65-35 blowout loss to the SMU Mustangs. The Green Waves are on the road again in two weeks and play against the Houston Cougars at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 8 at TDECU Stadium.
