Live scores, highlights and updates from the TCU vs. Iowa State football game
Game Recap
It was a close one, but on Saturday the Iowa State Cyclones sidestepped the TCU Horned Frogs for a 37-34 win. This was a must-win game for Iowa State as they bounced back from a huge upset against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns two weeks ago.
The Cyclones RB Breece Hall was on fire, rushing for three TDs and 154 yards on 18 carries. Hall put himself on the highlight reel with a 75-yard TD scramble in the second quarter.
Iowa State defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Horned Frogs offensive line to sack the quarterback five times for a loss of 21 yards. Leading the way was DE JaQuan Bailey and his 3.5 sacks. Those were the first sacks for Bailey through Week 4.
QB Max Duggan put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for three TDs and 241 yards on 20 attempts. Blair Conwright's longest catch was for 30 yards in the fourth quarter.
The win got Iowa State back to even at 1-1. TCU defeat pushed them down to 0-1.
Iowa State will take on the Oklahoma Sooners at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium. If the matchup is anything like Oklahoma 42-41 victory from their previous meeting November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy. As for the Horned Frogs, they will go up against the Texas Longhorns at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field. Both of those teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games.
