Texas A&M vs. Vanderbilt Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas A&M vs. Vanderbilt football game
Game Recap
The Vanderbilt Commodores had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 17-12 to the Texas A&M Aggies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Vanderbilt of the 25 to nothing defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head in November of 2015.
A&M RB Isaiah Spiller looked sharp as he picked up 117 yards on the ground on eight carries. Spiller's longest run was for 57 yards in the third quarter. Working against the Aggies was the performance of QB Kellen Mond, who fumbled the ball twice with only 189 yards passing.
No one had a standout game offensively for Vanderbilt, but they got one touchdown from WR Amir Abdur-Rahman.
This was the first matchup for both squads, making it a 0-1 start for Vanderbilt and a 1-0 start for A&M.
The Commodores will take on the LSU Tigers at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at home. Like Vanderbilt, LSU is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 44-34 to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. As for A&M, they will go up against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Like A&M, Bama is also coming into the game bolstered by a recent win.
