The Texas State Bobcats' seven-game streak of losses has finally come to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves Saturday. Yes, you read that final score correctly. And yes, they were playing football.
The Bobcats' QB Brady McBride was on fire, passing for five TDs and 443 yards on 45 attempts. WR Trevis Graham Jr. also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
Special teams collected 11 points for Texas State. K Seth Keller booted in two field goals, the longest a 48-yarder in the second quarter, which ultimately accounted for the difference in the matchup.
Despite the defeat, Arkansas State had strong showings from WR Jonathan Adams Jr., who caught ten passes for two TDs and 141 yards, and QB Logan Bonner, who passed for two TDs and 237 yards on 28 attempts.
Texas State's win ended a six-game game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. Arkansas State's loss makes it four in a row and drags their record down to 3-6.
Texas State will be playing at home against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at 3 p.m. ET next week. The Bobcats' defense better steel itself: Coastal Carolina is averaging 37 points per game. The Red Wolves will look to defend their home turf next week against the South Alabama Jaguars at 3 p.m. ET.
