Texas State vs. Georgia Southern: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas State vs. Georgia Southern football game
Game Recap
The Georgia Southern Eagles won the last time they met up with the Texas State Bobcats, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Georgia Southern took their matchup against Texas State on Saturday 38-30. It took five tries, but the Eagles can finally say that they have a win on the road.
Georgia Southern took a little while to warm up, but they followed up a slow three-point first quarter with 14 points in the second. Texas State matched them to leave it all tied up at 17-17. The offense for Georgia Southern put that tie to bed by coming up with 21 points in the second half to win the game.
RB Jalen White hadn't helped Georgia Southern's cause all that much against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers last week, but the same can't be said for this game. The Eagles' White looked sharp as he punched in two rushing touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns White has had all year. Georgia Southern also got help from WR Derwin Burgess Jr., who showed off his sure hands for 134 receiving yards in the victory.
No one had a standout game offensively for Texas State, but they got scores from RB Jahmyl Jeter and RB Calvin Hill.
The victory bumped Georgia Southern's record up to 3-7. Texas State's loss pushed them down to an identical 3-7.
The Eagles will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the BYU Cougars at 4 p.m. ET. BYU is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 59-14 victory over the Idaho State Bengals last week. As for Texas State, they will go up against Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Brooks Stadium. Like the Bobcats, the Chanticleers are looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 42-40 to the Georgia State Panthers.
