Texas Tech vs. Houston updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas Tech vs. Houston football game
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Houston Cougars at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech will really need to gear up for this challenge, as Houston will be their biggest challenge yet.
Texas Tech started off good but failed to capitalize on an early lead against West Virginia. They fell 20-13 to the Mountaineers on Saturday. Texas Tech didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Despite the loss, Texas Tech got a solid performance out of Tahj Brooks, who rushed for 149 yards. Brooks also notched 20+ carries for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Houston was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Sam Houston 38-7 at home. The success represented a nice turnaround for Houston who in their last game suffered a tough 36-13 loss.
Houston's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Donovan Smith, who threw for 294 yards and a touchdown, and Parker Jenkins, who rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns. That's the first time this season that Jenkins punched in one+ rushing touchdowns. Houston got help from Matthew Golden who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
Houston's win bumped their season record to 2-2 while Texas Tech's defeat dropped theirs to 1-3.
Looking ahead, Texas Tech is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by ten points. This contest might not be the best time to bet them against the spread since they've let bettors down the last four times they've played.
