Texas Tech vs. UCF updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas Tech vs. UCF football game
3rd Quarter Report
Only one more quarter stands between Texas Tech and the victory they were favored to collect coming into this evening. They have jumped out to a 21-14 lead against UCF. Texas Tech's offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, outscoring their total from last Saturday with time still left to play.
If Texas Tech keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 5-5 in no time. On the other hand, UCF will have to make due with a 5-5 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The UCF Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech is favored, but seeing as the odds didn't stop UCF in their last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
UCF put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oklahoma State 45-3 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for UCF.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead UCF to victory, but perhaps none more so than RJ Harvey, who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Harvey really tore up the turf during one magnificent 92-yard run. John Rhys Plumlee was another key contributor, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Kansas typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday Texas Tech proved too difficult a challenge. Texas Tech came out on top in a nail-biter against Kansas and snuck past 16-13.
Texas Tech relied on the efforts of Jerand Bradley, who picked up 91 receiving yards, and Tahj Brooks, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Gino Garcia did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 5-5.
Not only did both teams in this Saturday's match win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. Going forward, the match is expected to be close, with Texas Tech going off as just a 3-point favorite. For those looking to play the spread, watch out: UCF is playing on the road, but their 1-4 record against the spread as such isn't exactly encouraging.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: The Knights have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233.7 rushing yards per game (they're ranked third in rushing yards per game overall). However, it's not like the Red Raiders struggle in that department as they've been averaging 169 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
