The Texas Longhorns got themselves on the board against the Rice Owls on Saturday, but Rice never followed suit. Texas took their game at home with ease, bagging a 58 to nothing win over the Owls. With Texas ahead 44 to nothing at the half, the contest was all but over already.
RB Bijan Robinson had a stellar game for Texas as he rushed for three TDs and 127 yards on 13 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Robinson's 62-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter. QB Casey Thompson didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
Texas' victory brought them up to 2-1. The defeat dropped the Owls' record to 0-3.
The Longhorns will be hunkering down at home again for their matchup against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at noon ET Sept. 25 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field. Texas Tech is coming in off of a big 54-21 win over the FIU Panthers. As for Rice, they will face off against the Texas Southern Tigers at 6:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Rice Stadium. Texas Southern is hoping for a better outcome this matchup after a 66-7 loss to the Baylor Bears.
