Florida State’s 49-37 win over Clemson earned three Seminoles ACC player of the week honors.
Quarterback EJ Manuel won offensive back of the week after torching Clemson for 380 yards passing and 102 yards rushing. He was the first Florida State quarterback to throw for 300 yards and run for 100 since Charlie Ward in 1992. Manuel is the ACC career leader in passer rating and completion percentage, and he also won national offensive player of the week in the College Football Performance Awards.
Right tackle Menelik Watson gave Manuel help up front, and he earned offensive lineman of the week in just his second career start for the Seminoles. Watson had one missed assignment in 78 snaps and graded out at 82 percent, as Florida State produced 667 yards of offense.
Lamarcus Joyner was named specialist of the week after returning a third-quarter kickoff 90 yards after Florida State fell behind by 10 points. Joyner had 185 return yards, and the big play set up a touchdown that sparked the Seminoles’ second-half rally.
Miami’s 42-36 overtime win over Georgia Tech earned two Hurricanes ACC honors.
Phillip Dorsett had nine catches for 184 yards, the highest total in the ACC this season. He won receiver of the week. His first catch was a 65-yard touchdown, and he added a 41-yard catch later in the game, on his way to the seventh-best receiving day in school history.
Eddie Johnson had nine tackles to win linebacker of the week. His biggest stop of the game came in overtime, when he stuffed Georgia Tech QB Tevin Washington for no gain on fourth-and-one.
Wake Forest’s Zach Thompson won defensive lineman of the week with 12 tackles in the win over Army.
North Carolina CB Jabari Price had eight tackles, his first career sack, and a pass breakup in the 27-6 win over East Carolina to win defensive back of the week.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs became the second Maryland player this season to win rookie of the week, joining QB Perry Hills, who was honored two weeks ago. Diggs had three catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-21 loss to West Virginia.
