Troy vs. Appalachian State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Troy vs. Appalachian State football game
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are 4-1 against the Troy Trojans since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Appalachian State and Troy will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Mountaineers should still be riding high after a big victory, while Troy will be looking to right the ship.
The South Alabama Jaguars typically have all the answers at home, but last week Appalachian State proved too difficult a challenge. Appalachian State made easy work of the Jaguars and carried off a 31-7 win. Appalachian State QB Chase Brice was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 195 yards on 26 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
Meanwhile, the Trojans came up short against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns last week, falling 35-21. No one had a standout game offensively for Troy, but they got scores from WR Tez Johnson and QB Taylor Powell.
The Mountaineers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 9.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Appalachian State's win brought them up to 8-2 while Troy's defeat pulled them down to 5-5. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Appalachian State is 177th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 14 on the season. Troy has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 166th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 14 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
