Troy vs. South Alabama: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Troy vs. South Alabama football game
The South Alabama Jaguars have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Troy Trojans and are hoping to record their first win since Oct. 11 of 2017. South Alabama and Troy will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Jaguars should still be feeling good after a victory, while Troy will be looking to regain their footing.
South Alabama ran circles around the Arkansas State Red Wolves last week, and the extra yardage (424 yards vs. 224 yards) paid off. South Alabama had enough points to win and then some against Arkansas State, taking their game 31-13. The team accrued 28 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory. South Alabama got their win on the backs of several key players, and it was QB Jake Bentley out in front passing for four TDs and 251 yards on 39 attempts.
South Alabama's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. CB Darrell Luter Jr. picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Troy came up short against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers last Thursday, falling 35-28. A silver lining for Troy was the play of RB Kimani Vidal, who rushed for one TD and 142 yards on 22 carries.
The Jaguars are expected to lose this next one by 4. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
South Alabama is now 5-3 while Troy sits at 4-4. South Alabama is 2-2 after wins this season, and the Trojans are 2-1 after losses.
