The biggest UCLA position battle was decided last week, when coach Jim Mora and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone named redshirt freshman Brett Hundley the starting quarterback. But there are plenty of positions still up for grabs at Bruins training camp in blazing hot San Bernardino.

Here’s a look at three of them:

Wide receiver (slot): Ricky Marvray vs. Jordan James
Marvray emerged as a reliable targets toward the middle of last season and shows a willingness to make catches over the middle. That could really help Hundley in his development at QB. James is more of a hybrid between a running back and a receiver but can make plays in the open field.

Defensive end: Datone Jones vs. Cassius Marsh vs. Owamagbe Odighizuwa
Jones, a starter last year, is being pushed. He’s big (6-5, 280), quick and can stuff the run and rush the passer with equal ability. He led all linemen with 41 tackles, 6½ tackles for loss and three sacks. The 6-4, 295-pound Marsh is still learning the position and has struggled with consistency. Odighizuwa is a 6-5, 278-pound athletic freak who has yet to harness that athleticism. If he does, watch out.

Right tackle: Torian White vs. Will Oliver
The 6-6, 295-pound White, a redshirt freshman, is the favorite due to his mobility, but he has no experience.  That opens the door for Oliver, who is also a redshirt freshman. At 6-7, 290, Oliver has long arms and could develop into a run mauler, but he needs to work on his technique and develop greater strength.
