UCLA junior linebacker Jordan Zumwalt injured himself on a scooter this week and will miss Saturday's game at Colorado, coach Jim Mora said Thursday.
Zumwalt, a starter at outside linebacker in UCLA's 3-4 defense, suffered a gash on the head that required stitches, making him unable to wear a helmet. He won't accompany the team on the trip to Boulder.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Zumwalt is tied for fifth on the Bruins in tackles this season with 16. He also has three tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
It's expected that Damien Holmes will slide to the outside to replace Zumwalt against the Buffaloes.
It's unlikely that Zumwalt's absence will affect the outcome of the game too much. The 3-1 Bruins head to Boulder as 20-point favorites, although the 1-3 Buffaloes are coming off an emotional, 35-34 win over Washington State.
