UConn vs. FIU updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Connecticut vs. FIU football game
FIU have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the UConn Huskies at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. UConn is favored, but seeing as the odds didn't stop FIU this last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
Even though North Texas scored an imposing 39 points, FIU still came out on top. FIU walked away with a 46-39 win over North Texas on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for FIU.
RB Kejon Owens was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Owens. WR Kris Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring a touchdown off of 94 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, the evening started off rough for UConn on Saturday and it ended that way too. They suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to Georgia State. UConn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score sitting at 21-0.
The losing side was boosted by QB Ta'Quan Roberson, who threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns on 30 attempts. WR Kevens Clercius also helped out by posting a receiving touchdown.
The Huskies weren't very productive on the ground and finished the game with only 50 rushing yards. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Georgia State rushed for 250.
FIU might still be hurting after the devastating 33-12 defeat walloping they got from UConn in their previous matchup last October. Can FIU avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
