Live scores, highlights and updates from the Connecticut vs. South Florida football game
UConn is 0-5 against South Florida since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The UConn Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Florida Bulls at 3:30 p.m. ET at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. UConn is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
UConn was not the first on the board two weeks ago, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Rice by a score of 38-31. UConn was down 14-0 with 0:33 left in the first quarter but they still came back for the handy seven-point victory.
UConn can attribute much of their success to Ta'Quan Roberson, who threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Jelani Stafford was in the mix as well, providing UConn with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored South Florida last Saturday, but the final result did not. They were dealt a punishing 56-14 loss at the hands of FAU. South Florida was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Despite the defeat, South Florida had strong showings from Nay'Quan Wright, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and Byrum Brown, who threw for 179 yards and a touchdown.
UConn made their fans wait, but they finally earned their first win of the season and are now 1-5. As for South Florida, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Looking forward, UConn is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by a single point.
