USU vs. CSU: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Friday's NCAAF game

Through 3 Quarters

The Utah State Aggies were expected to take an 'L' in this one, but so far it isn't playing out to script. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the Colorado State Rams 23-14. WR Derek Wright has led the way so far for the Aggies, as he has caught two passes for two TDs and 63 yards.

Utah State is struggling to protect the pocket and have allowed eight sacks. They are going to have to protect QB Logan Bonner better if they want to hold on to their lead.

Who's Playing

Colorado State @ Utah State

Current Records: Colorado State 3-3; Utah State 4-2

What to Know

The Utah State Aggies and the Colorado State Rams will face off in a Mountain West clash at 9:30 p.m. ET Oct. 22 at Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.

Utah State didn't have too much breathing room in their contest with the UNLV Rebels last week, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. It was another big night for the Aggies' WR Deven Thompkins, who caught 13 passes for two TDs and 178 yards.

Meanwhile, when you finish with 359 more yards than your opponent like Colorado State did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They made easy work of the New Mexico Lobos and carried off a 36-7 victory. Colorado State's QB Todd Centeio did his thing and passed for one TD and 289 yards on 25 attempts in addition to picking up 35 yards on the ground.

Special teams collected 18 points for Colorado State. K Cayden Camper delivered a perfect 5-for-5 game.

Utah State is expected to lose this next one by 3. Now might not be the best time to take the Aggies against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.

Utah State is now 4-2 while the Rams sit at 3-3. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Utah State is 218th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 13 on the season. Colorado State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 151st most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up eight on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
