Live scores, highlights and updates from the Utah vs. Weber State football game
Game Recap
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for the Utah Utes on Thursday. They made easy work of the Weber State Wildcats and carried off a 40-17 victory. That's another feather in the cap for the Utes, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Utah started the game off right with 19 first-half points. The Wildcats countered with 7 points. The offense for Utah continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.
Utah can attribute much of their success to RB Tavion Thomas, who rushed for two TDs and 107 yards on 12 carries. TE Dalton Kincaid also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
No one had a standout game offensively for Weber State, but they got one touchdown from QB Bronson Barron. The contest brought Utah to 1-0 and dropped the Wildcats to a mirror-image 0-1.
The Utes will take on the BYU Cougars at 10:15 p.m. ET next week at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Weber State is staying on the road next week to face off against the Dixie St Trailblazers at 9 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Greater Zion Stadium.
