UTEP vs. Louisiana Tech updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the UTEP vs. Louisiana Tech football game
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the UTEP Miners at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday at Sun Bowl. Louisiana Tech is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Louisiana Tech was not quite Nebraska's equal in the second half on Saturday. Louisiana Tech received a tough blow as they fell 28-14 to Nebraska.
When it’s third and short and the Bulldogs need some yardage, they’ve opted to try a passing play 64.3% of the time. The team tried something a little different on Saturday though, only passing on 25% of their third and short attempts. Given they only converted 21.4% of their third downs, don't expect to see them trying that again any time soon.
The Bulldogs weren't very productive on the ground and finished the game with only 46 rushing yards. They were destroyed by their opponents in that department as Nebraska rushed for 312.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for UTEP recently, and their game on Saturday only extended their losing streak to three. They took a hard 45-28 fall against UNLV. UTEP didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
The losing side was boosted by Torrance Burgess Jr., who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Hardison also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Louisiana Tech's record now sits at 2-3. As for the opposition, UTEP were on a 3-game losing streak that has dropped they down to 1-4.
Not only did both both teams lose their last games, neither team covered either. Looking ahead, the game is expected to be close, with UTEP going off as just a 1 point favorite. For those looking to play the spread, keep their opponent in mind: they have a subpar 1-4 record against the spread vs Louisiana Tech over their last five matchups.
Louisiana Tech beat UTEP 41-31 in their previous matchup last October. The rematch might be a little tougher for Louisiana Tech since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
