Virginia Tech vs. Purdue updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia Tech vs. Purdue football game
The Purdue Boilermakers will head out on the road to face off against the Virginia Tech Hokies at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more against one another.
Purdue couldn't capitalize on their home-turf advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Fresno State by a score of 39-35. Purdue didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Despite their defeat, Purdue saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. WR Deion Burks, who found the endzone twice on 152 receiving yards, was perhaps the best of all. Burks made the highlight reel thanks to a 84-yard receiving touchdown in the first quarter. It was a true group effort though, and the team also got help from QB Hudson Card, who threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 30 attempts.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when the QB airs it out for 165 more yards than the opposition, a fact Virginia Tech proved on Saturday. Virginia Tech walked away with a 36-17 victory over Old Dominion.
Purdue will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with a 5-9 record against the spread.
While the Boilermakers is hoping for a better result this time, the Hokies is hoping to keep the momentum going. Check CBS Sports after the matchup to see if Purdue succeed or if Virginia Tech can keep it going.
