Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse football game
The Syracuse Orange have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. The Orange and the Virginia Tech Hokies will face off in an ACC battle at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
It was a hard-fought contest, but 'Cuse had to settle for a 17-14 loss against the Clemson Tigers last Friday. RB Sean Tucker put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 157 yards on the ground on 22 carries. Tucker's longest run was for 54 yards in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, a win for Virginia Tech just wasn't in the stars last week as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 28-7 walloping at the Pittsburgh Panthers' hands. Virginia Tech was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 21 to nothing. QB Braxton Burmeister wasn't much of a difference maker for Virginia Tech; Burmeister threw one interception with only 4.19 yards per passing attempt.
'Cuse is expected to lose this next one by 3. Bettors make note: they are flawless against the spread this season.
The Orange are now 3-4 while the Hokies sit at 3-3. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: 'Cuse is 186th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 172.3 on average. Virginia Tech has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 189th fewest yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 311.8 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
