Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia vs. Boston College football game
Game Recap
The Virginia Cavaliers decided to play defense against itself on Saturday, but the squad still came out ahead despite their 110 penalty yards. They were able to grind out a solid win over the Boston College Eagles, winning 43-32. For the Cavaliers, this is just revenge for the 41-10 loss they suffered against BC the last time they faced one another on Oct. 21 of 2017.
Virginia's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 20 points in the first half. The Eagles were right behind to make the score 20-17 heading into the break. The offense for Virginia continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 23 points to put the game away.
QB Brennan Armstrong had a stellar game for Virginia as he passed for one TD and 287 yards on 27 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 130 yards. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Armstrong has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. QB Keytaon Thompson had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
Special teams collected 13 points for Virginia. K Brian Delaney delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Despite the defeat, the Eagles got a solid performance out of WR Zay Flowers, who caught eight passes for two TDs and 180 yards.
The victory bumped the Cavaliers' record up to 5-4. BC's defeat pushed them down to 6-5.
Virginia will square off against the Virginia Tech Hokies at noon ET next Saturday at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Virginia Tech took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Virginia's good fortune. As for the Eagles, their regular season is over.
