Game Recap
The Virginia Cavaliers gave up the first points against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Virginia took down Duke 38-20. That's another feather in the cap for the Cavaliers, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge for Virginia was RB Wayne Taulapapa, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. The Virginia defense stepped up as well to lay out the quarterback five times.
Virginia defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected five interceptions and two fumbles. S Brenton Nelson snatched up two of those interceptions, both in the third quarter.
No one had a standout game offensively for Duke, but they got scores from TE Noah Gray and TE Jake Marwede. One of the most thrilling moments was Marwede's 55-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
The win got the Cavaliers out to a 1-0 start for the season. The Blue Devils still haven't won a contest and fell to 0-3.
Virginia will square off against the Clemson Tigers at 8 p.m. ET next Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Clemson is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 49 to nothing victory over the Citadel Bulldogs last week. As for Duke, they will go up against the Virginia Tech Hokies at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
