The Portland State Vikings will start their season against the Washington State Cougars. Kickoff is scheduled at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Gesa Field at Martin Stadium.
A deciding factor in this game could be passing yards, as these two teams wound up on other sides of the spectrum last year. Washington State finished last season ranked fourth in the nation, having averaged 315.8 per game. Portland State, on the other hand, didn't do so hot: they were ranked 114th with 151.8 per game.
Looking back to last season, Washington State finished on the wrong side of .500 (5-7), but they'll be hoping to turn things around this year. Similarly, Portland State will seek to improve after finishing 5-6.
Looking forward, Washington State is probably looking forward to this one considering their 30.5 advantage in the spread. They finished last season with an even 6-6 record against the spread.
While the experts think Washington State is more likely to win, they finished last season an even 3-3 as the favorite.
