WATCH: Bowling Green takes opening kickoff back 100 yards for TD to open 2024 season in dazzling fashion
The return by Justin Pegues set a school record in the process on Thursday

Bowling Green got its 2024 season started off with a considerable bang as Falcons running back Justin Pegues returned the opening kickoff of Bowling Green's Thursday night game against Fordham 100 yards for a touchdown. Pegues also set a school record for the longest kick return in program history in the process. Also of note is the fact that this was the first time Pegues touched the ball in a Bowling Green uniform after transferring in from Tennessee Tech.
Falcons running back Jaison Patterson deserves a ton of credit for running alongside Pegues and delivering an excellent double block, taking the last two Fordham special teamers out of the play around the 50-yard line.
Opening kickoff of the year = TO. THE. HOUSE.

Not to be outdone, Bowling Green's offense was able to capitalize when actually given a chance. The Falcons capped a 10-play, 78-yard drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown from Terion Stewart to take a 13-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
Bowling Green is looking to make it to a bowl game for a third consecutive season under coach Scot Loeffler. The Falcons have a 13-13 record over the past two seasons, with each capped by an appearance in the Quick Lane Bowl. Bowling Green tied with Northern Illinois for third place in the preseason MAC media poll.
