It took a little longer than normal, but Lamar Jackson and the Louisville offense got to cooking once again on Saturday night against Marshall with the Heisman frontrunner putting up another seven-touchdown performance.
Jackson threw for 417 yards and five touchdowns, adding 62 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground in the first three quarters and change. Jackson got the scoring started in the first quarter with a 71-yard touchdown pass to James Quick.
For the first time all season, Jackson and the Louisville offense failed to score two touchdowns in the first quarter. That somewhat sluggish start did not last long as the Cardinals erupted for four touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 35-7 lead into halftime.
Jackson hooked up with tight end Cole Hikutini twice for passing touchdowns in the second frame, including this 31-yard touchdown strike.
Jackson didn't have any long touchdown runs like we've come to expect this season, but he did have a pair of touchdowns on the ground including this four-yard run in the second quarter.
Jackson's final touchdown of the night was a 51-yard pass to Jaylen Smith late in the third quarter to push the Cardinals over 50 points.
With his performance on Saturday night, Jackson has more than 1,300 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions along with more than 500 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. If he can somehow keep up this torrid pace, Jackson would finish the season with close to 4,000 yards passing, 1,500 yards rushing and 75 total touchdowns, which is just an absolutely absurd thing to think about.
