West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State football game
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 0-6 against the Oklahoma State Cowboys since October of 2015, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. West Virginia and Oklahoma State will face off in a Big 12 battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. With a combined 1,026 yards of offense in their previous games, we can expect a fast-paced game.
The Iowa State Cyclones typically have all the answers at home, but last week the Mountaineers proved too difficult a challenge. West Virginia beat Iowa State 38-31. The score was all tied up at the break 17-17, but West Virginia was the better team in the second half. Their RB Leddie Brown did his thing and rushed for two TDs and 109 yards on 22 carries.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys ran circles around the Kansas Jayhawks last week, and the extra yardage (534 yards vs. 143 yards) paid off. Oklahoma State took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 55-3 win over Kansas. With Oklahoma State ahead 38 to nothing at the half, the matchup was all but over already. It was another big night for their QB Spencer Sanders, who passed for two TDs and 157 yards on 19 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 53 yards.
West Virginia is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 3-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
The wins brought West Virginia up to 4-4 and the Cowboys to 7-1. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Mountaineers are stumbling into the contest with the 169th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown five on the season. Oklahoma State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 193rd worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown six on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
