After a sunny season, UNC has been experiencing darker times in their latest games. The match between UNC and North Carolina State back in November wasn't a total blowout, but with UNC falling 39-20 on the road it was darn close to turning into one. UNC didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Drake Maye put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
West Virginia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for UNC, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-4.
West Virginia is hoping to beat the odds on Wednesday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's game: The Mountaineers have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 234.3 rushing yards per game (they're ranked fourth in rushing yards per game overall). However, it's not like the Tar Heels struggle in that department as they've been averaging 197.1 rushing yards per game. It's looking like Wednesday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check CBS Sports after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other college football content.
