Western Michigan vs. Ball State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Western Michigan vs. Ball State football game
The Ball State Cardinals have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. The Cardinals and the Western Michigan Broncos will face off in a Mid-American battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Waldo Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Ball State beat the Army West Point Black Knights 28-16 last week. The team accrued 21 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win. Ball State QB Drew Plitt was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 233 yards on 28 attempts.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up 7-7 at the half for WMU and the Buffalo Bulls last week, but the Broncos stepped up in the second half for a 24-17 victory. Among those leading the charge for WMU was WR Skyy Moore, who caught 11 passes for two TDs and 163 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Kaleb Eleby's 64-yard TD bomb to Moore in the fourth quarter.
Ball State have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 11 point spread they are up against. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
Ball State is now 2-3 while the Broncos sit at 4-1. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Cardinals are 211th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 15 on the season. WMU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 205th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up nine on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
