Wisconsin backup quarterback Tanner McEvoy is back participating in team activities after being mugged over the weekend, the school confirmed on Monday.
According to a release put out by Wisconsin, the incident took place in Madison early Sunday morning with McEvoy suffering minor injuries, including cuts to his head. Wisconsin officials said his watch, iPhone and wallet were stolen.
"First and foremost we are happy that Tanner is physically okay after this attack," Badgers coach Gary Andersen said in the release. "It's terrible to get a call about something like this, but we are grateful the injuries were not serious."
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound McEvoy joined the Wisconsin program in January after transferring from Arizona Western Junior College.
The incident comes about a year after former Badgers running back Montee Ball was jumped by four men just before fall camp broke. Ball suffered a concussion and other injuries that kept him out for two weeks.
