Wisconsin vs. Rutgers updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Wisconsin vs. Rutgers football game
The Wisconsin Badgers will be playing at home against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Wisconsin made easy work of Purdue and carried off a 38-17 victory. That's two games straight that Wisconsin has won by exactly 21 points.
Wisconsin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tanner Mordecai, who rushed for 44 yards, and Braelon Allen, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 carries. Allen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. While his performance might not make the highlight reel, Nathanial Vakos was a big playmaker, having booted in three field goals and three extra points.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rutgers' strategy against Wagner on Saturday. Rutgers blew Wagner out of the water with a 52-3 final score. The win was just what Rutgers needed to soften the blow of their 31-7 loss to Wisconsin in their previous game.
Gavin Wimsatt looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 146 yards and a touchdown, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Those two rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Wimsatt. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Monangai, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Wisconsin to 3-1 and Rutgers to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Wisconsin is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 14 points. This contest will be their fourth straight as the favorites.
