Wyoming vs. New Mexico: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Wyoming vs. New Mexico football game
The New Mexico Lobos and the Wyoming Cowboys are even-steven against one another since September of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. The Lobos and Wyoming will face off in a Mountain West battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
A win for New Mexico just wasn't in the stars last week as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 36-7 walloping at the Colorado State Rams' hands.
The New Mexico defensive unit accumulated four sacks for a loss of 23 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys lost to the Fresno State Bulldogs at home by a decisive 17 to nothing margin. QB Sean Chambers had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw three interceptions and fumbled the ball once with a passing completion percentage of only 34.78%.
New Mexico is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past five games, so buyers beware.
New Mexico is now 2-5 while Wyoming sits at 4-2. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Lobos are stumbling into the matchup with the 224th fewest yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 253.6 on average. The Cowboys have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 183rd worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 172.7 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
