Nic Shimonek: Cut by Chargers
Shimonek was waived by the Chargers on Saturday, Ricky Henne of the team's official site reports.
The Chargers elected to roll with two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster in Philip Rivers and Geno Smith, leaving no room for Shimonek. He'll join the Redskins' practice squad heading into the regular season.
