Thorson was signed to the Giants' practice squad Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
The quarterback will likely operate as a reserve option behind Jake Fromm and Brian Lewerke in Week 18 as both Daniel Jones (neck) and Mike Glennon (wrist) will be unavailable. Thorson has spent a large portion of the season with the Giants, allowing him to fill in if needed against Washington on Sunday.

The Giants are depleted at quarterback with both Daniel Jones (neck) and Mike Glennon (wrist) ruled out. Thus, while Thorson has not yet signed with the team, he'll reportedly serve as insurance in case Jake Fromm is unable to suit up for an unforeseen reason. Thorson spent much of training camp and parts of this season with the Giants practice squad, so he should be familiar with the offense if he is forced into action.

With Daniel Jones (neck) doubtful and Mike Glennon (concussion) questionable for Week 14, the Giants elected to sign Thorson to their practice squad to provide emergency depth at quarterback. However, with both of the aforementioned signal callers progressing well ahead of Week 15, Thorson finds himself as the odd man out. In a corresponding move, the Giants signed Woodrow Hamilton to their practice squad.

The Giants waived Thorson (concussion) with an injury settlement Wednesday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Rather than remain on the Giants' injured reserve for the entire 2021 season, Thorson will now be free to sign elsewhere in the league once he's fully recovered from his concussion.
