Cole McDonald: Time up in desert
The Cardinals cut McDonald on Thursday, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports.
The Cardinals now only have Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler behind Kyler Murray on the offseason roster. McDonald, who joined the NFL as a 2020 seventh-round pick of the Titans, will look to continue his development elsewhere.

Cardinals' Cole McDonald: Signs with Cardinals
McDonald is signing with the Cardinals, Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
The Hawaii product was selected by the Titans in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was waived by the team in August and never caught on elsewhere, but he'll get a look from the Cardinals this offseason, potentially challenging Chris Streveler or Brett Hundley for a backup QB role.

Cole McDonald: Tries out with Cardinals
The Cardinals hosted McDonald for a tryout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
This is notable because Kyler Murray's (lower leg) status is in question for Sunday's game against the Rams. McDonald -- a rookie seventh-round pick -- hasn't signed with another team after being cut by the Titans early in training camp. If McDonald signs with the Cardinals, he'll simply add depth at quarterback. The Hawaii product posted a 64 percent completion rate, 4,135 passing yards and a 33:14 TD:INT ratio in his final collegiate season.

Cole McDonald: Let go by Tennessee
The Titans waived McDonald on Wednesday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
McDonald's spot on the roster was swiftly occupied by veteran signal-caller Trevor Siemian. The rookie seventh-round pick could draw interest from other organizations as a developmental project.

Titans' Cole McDonald: Picked up by Tennessee
The Titans selected McDonald in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 224th overall.
The Hawaii quarterback will have a steep learning curve in the NFL, coming from a wide-open air-raid system in college. McDonald was nonetheless prolific in that system, throwing for 4,135 yards and 33 scores in 2019. He had some turnover issues, however, as his interceptions spiked from 10 in 2018 to 14 this past season. McDonald has pro-level tools with the necessary arm strength to make most of the throws at this level. He's also athletic, having run the fastest 40 among quarterbacks at this year's combine with a 4.58. His ability to improve his processing speed and ability to read defenses will tell the tale as to whether he'll stick in the NFL.
