  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Afterthought vs. Falcons

Mingo caught his only target for one yard in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Falcons.

The Ole Miss product had the opportunity to step up and serve as the Panthers' No. 3 wide receiver while Adam Thielen (hamstring) was sidelined in Week 6. However, Mingo was out-produced by both Jalen Coker (30 yards) and David Moore (17 yards) in addition to Diontae Johnson (78 yards) and Xavier Legette (23 yards), so it appears he's an afterthought in Carolina's wide receiver corps. Mingo will look to rebound in the Panthers' Week 7 matchup against the Commanders.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Struggles again in Week 5

Mingo caught two of his five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Bears.

Mingo tied Ja'Tavion Sanders for the second-most targets on the team and saw increased snaps in the second half while Xavier Legette (shoulder) was sidelined during Sunday's loss. However, it didn't lead to increased production, as the second-year wideout was able to haul in just two of his five targets. If Legette is forced to miss Carolina's Week 6 matchup against the Falcons, Mingo could have a chance to break out and serve as the Panthers' No. 2 wide receiver.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Catches three passes in loss

Mingo caught three of his five targets for 24 yards during Sunday's 34-24 loss to the Bengals.

Mingo served as the Panthers' No. 3 wide receiver Sunday with Adam Thielen (hamstring) on injured reserve, but that still didn't lead to increased production. Andy Dalton targeted Diontae Johnson or Xavier Legette on 23 of his 40 pass attempts, and those two combined for 149 of Dalton's 220 passing yards. Despite Mingo's increased playing time over the next couple of weeks, he still appears to be an afterthought in the team's offensive gameplan, with Johnson, Legette and Chuba Hubbard handling almost all the work in Week 4.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Locked into three-wide role

Mingo is expected to take on a regular role in three-receiver sets after the Panthers placed Adam Thielen (hamstring) on injured reserve Tuesday, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.

In the Panthers' Week 3 win over the Raiders, Mingo played 49 of the team's 74 offensive snaps (66 percent) and logged a 3-18-0 receiving line on four targets. While Thielen left the game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury, Mingo didn't benefit from a major spike in playing time in the second half, as rookie Xavier Legette was instead the preferred No. 2 wideout alongside top target Diontae Johnson when the Panthers fielded two receivers and two tight ends. Mingo may not be in store for a notable uptick in his snap count if that trend holds, but his route participation and opportunities to earn targets could still increase to some degree while Thielen is out of the picture.
