Ryan McMahon seems to be gaining momentum as one of the better hitting prospects in the game. That's the good news. The bad news is that the Rockies just enjoyed a breakout season by their last big-time third base prospect, Nolan Arenado, and it was enough to entrench him at the hot corner for the foreseeable future. McMahon's bat should hold up at first base or an outfield corner, though. He has monster power potential and a line drive-oriented swing, which means he should hit for average if he cuts down on his strikeouts, his one blemish. He's not getting the call this year, but particularly playing his half his games at Coors Field, he could offer Kyle Schwarber-like production a year or two from now.
