Canning (4-11) took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk over 4.1 innings while striking out three.
Canning got himself into trouble right out of the gate, allowing three consecutive hits to open the contest, including a three-run shot off the bat of Marcell Ozuna. The right-hander would surrender another run in the second, along with a second long ball in the fifth, marking the first time he's coughed up multiple homers since June 13 against the Diamondbacks. The seven runs charged to Canning on Saturday also marked a season high, and he's now lost three of his last four decisions (spanning eight starts).
