Giavotella is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the A's, reports MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez.
Giavotella has three hits and two RBI in nine career at-bats against A's starter Sonny Gray, but manager Mike Scioscia won't rely on the small sample size, and will instead start Cliff Pennington at second base Monday in order to get another left-handed hitter in the lineup against Gray.
